Adenium arabicum 'Emerald Popeye' has a well-earned reputation among serious growers. It's a heavyweight line built for mass — the thick, muscular caudex and branching the name calls to mind. This is collector-grade arabicum, and it rewards the patience of growing from seed with a plant you've shaped yourself.

Growing it in Zone 6 — and anywhere cold

I've grown arabicum in Northern Kentucky for over 30 years, and Emerald Popeye wants the standard arabicum setup: warmth, strong light, and a fast-draining inorganic mix. Give the seed bottom heat to germinate, keep young seedlings warm and bright through their first winter indoors, and go easy on the water while they establish.
