About the plant

This is open-pollinated Plumeria rubra seed from Thai growing stock selected for strong color and vigor. Because it's open-pollinated and mixed-color, every seed is a bit of a surprise — a batch that can flower across a range of colors as the seedlings mature. That variation is half the fun of raising plumeria from seed, and 25 seeds gives you plenty to grow out and select from.

Growing it in Zone 6 — and anywhere cold

Plumeria germinates fast and easy with warmth — often within a week or two. Sow with the winged end up and just breaking the surface, keep a fast-draining mix warm and barely moist (not wet), and give strong light once they're up. In my 30+ years growing plumeria in Northern Kentucky, the rule is simple: they take heat and sun in summer, and they will not tolerate frost. In Zone 6 they come indoors before first freeze and rest through winter.

Who you're buying from

I'm Michael White — ISA Certified Arborist (KY-0847A), Kentucky Master Gardener, and a U.S. Navy veteran who's grown Adenium, Plumeria, and Pachypodium in Zone 6 Northern Kentucky for over 30 years. Every seed lot I sell is stock I'd sow on my own bench, packed fresh with the germination instructions I use myself. American Adenium ships within the United States.
